Cycling Route

The settlement of Vavatsinia is an ideal location for cyclists. The Machairas route is the most popular bike route. This expedition of 25 kilometres ascends through the Machairas forest and then the Pitsylia region. From Machairas Monastery, the road travels west via the tiny hamlet of Lazanias and Gouri before turning south to reach Farmakas. From Farmakas, the road descends to the left towards the major Lefkosia (Nicosia) – Palaichori route, with the Palaichori dam on the right. From there, the route bears left and ascends gradually for 5 kilometres until it reaches Palaichori proper.
